For this week I got to read Asterix! This was a fun one for me because I took three years of french in school and my teacher would use Asterix to teach us. We would read the untranslated comic as well as the many animated cartoons.
Now when I read it I have a hard time not reading it like a french student. To me they were kiddy comics that had very simple dialogue and simple kiddy stories. These of course were perfect for language students who were barely able to form a sentence. When I read them now I think my teacher may have modified or hand selected simpler stories because I don't remember there being this much dialogue.
The comic was a fun read because of the nostalgia but I don't think it would have kept my attention very long otherwise.
